Playwright
Irene was twice chosen to participate in the Pipeline New Works Initiative (sponsored by Cadence Theatre) and was mentored by the multi-decorated playwright, David Lindsay-Abaire. She has received grants, awards and commissions from The Virginia Commission for the Arts, Swift Creek Mill Playhouse, The Mary Roberts Rinehart Award, Martha Newell Award for Best First Play, and Theresa Pollack Award.
Other honors include Semifinalist, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Quarterfinalist, O’Neill National Playwright’s Conference, William Inge Theatre Festival, and “audience favorite” at the Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights.
