Chimborazo Hill, by Irene Ziegler

Cadence Theatre Company in Richmond, VA will produce the world-premiere of Irene Ziegler's play, Chimborazo Hill.

The play was developed as part of the Pipeline New Works Initiative under the artistic guidance and mentorship of Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright, David Lindsay-Abaire.

"Carol Rankin, a respected 60-something liberal activist, is about to receive her third Humanitarian of the Year award. When her blue-collar neighbor implicates his own father in a decades-old murder on Richmond's Chimborazo Hill, Carol must decide whether to suppress her knowledge or involve herself fully in uncovering the truth about that night, putting herself at risk of losing everything she holds dear, including her son. Inspired by a true event, the play grapples with questions of domestic abuse, complicity, and vigilante justice."

Chimborazo Hill received a public reading in June, 2019, and another in August, 2021.
